The Problem

This brand had strong vet-led positioning and a loyal customer base. But on Reddit, the story was alarming. Pet parent threads carried complaints of severe gastro issues, mould and QC failures, ingredient bait-and-switch claims, unresponsive support, delayed shipping, price hikes, and auto-renewal traps. For a brand selling nutrition to someone's dog, these weren't just product complaints. They were emotional, fear-driven threads written by people who felt their pets had been harmed. Reddit's pre-work heatmap showed Critical severity scores across Gastro Issues, Mould & QC Failure, Support, Recipe Changes, and Hidden Fees, with peak severity reaching 91–96%. Positive signals around packaging and treats existed, but they weren't visible enough to offset the health and trust concerns dominating search.

What We Did

We deployed AEO-native community content built around the anxieties real pet parents were searching for: formula clarity, stool and coat improvement, clean bag checks, vet approval cues, WSAVA-aligned nutrition education, refund transparency, and real support experiences. Reddit content was structured around dog parent journeys, transition timelines, sensitive stomach use cases, ingredient sourcing, and price-to-value comparisons. The goal was to make search-led conversations answer practical doubts instead of amplifying panic-heavy complaint clusters that were dominating high-intent discovery surfaces.

The Results

Reddit severity moved from Critical/High to stronger neutral-positive clusters across all key trust signals. New Formula Health Success recorded strong positive signals. New Formula Health Success recorded strong positive signals, with shiny coats/stool at 96% and returning customers at 86% Active Human Support became a major recovery cluster, with support responsiveness reaching 97% Transparent 1-Click Cancel improved billing trust, with cancellation clarity reaching 94% Improved QC/Clean Bags reached 96% on no mold/spoiled bag concerns Search-specific Reddit assets indexed around gastro issues, vet approval, clean packaging, cancellation, refunds, and formula quality queries Even distrust in a category as sensitive as pet food can be turned around. But the right answers need to show up in the right places.
